CWR to gather leaders on key fundraising topic

March 31, 2009

The Building Capacity for Individual Fundraising project will gather thought leaders in the sector to advance thinking on how strategic nonprofits can diversify their funding base.

With state, corporate, and foundation giving all expected to decline significantly, the ability to reach individual donors will determine the future of any given nonprofit.

However, some of the most outstanding nonprofits have relied heavily on institutional sources and have under invested in their capacity to reach individuals.

If donors wish to multiply the impact of their own (often shrinking) dollars, helping outstanding nonprofits build this capacity could be a highly leveraged response to the current financial crisis.

This CWR sponsored event will bring thoughtful funders and outstanding nonprofit leaders around this topic for a luncheon on May 11th (11:30 to 2:30 pm at the Sobrato Center for Nonprofits in San Jose).  This event will catalyze an ongoing process of collaboration and experimentation.

A partial list of participants includes:

Due to space constraints, participation in Building Capacity For Individual Fundraising is by invitation only.

UPDATE:

The event was a great success and CWR has launched the new Capacity Collaborative, a gathering of funders and nonprofits working to reinvent the ways nonprofits grow.

Help One Child

We're a relatively small outfit. But Consulting Within Reach always treated us like we mattered a great deal. They were extremely attentive and patient. And they delivered expert results that were surprisingly affordable. With their report, we're armed to approach foundations in a whole new way.
