CWR partners with Peery Foundation to support startup

September 25, 2009

Foundations increasingly are looking to provide more support to their grantees than just writing a check.  Dave Peery of the Peery Foundation is one such example of a new generation of "engaged philanthropists."

So when Dave realized that one of his grantees, Ties to the World, needed a robust business plan process in order to succeed, he turned to Consulting Within Reach.  He funded a project where CWR coached the Executive Director Ibis Schlesigner to redefine her strategy around her mission of creating economically self sustaining orphanages in South America.

As part of the business plan, CWR encouraged Ibis to diversify her funding base, which had been mostly reliant on the Peery Foundation.  We provided fundraising coaching and the development of the most thorough fundraising plan that the organization has ever had.

As a result of our work, the Peery Foundation can know that its own funding is going to be both more effective and also joined by other donors as well.

We're excited about our growing partnership with the Peery Foundation, which previously included the key role that the foundation played in our work with the Capacity Collaborative.  And we look forward to other ways to serve it and other foundations in our sector.

Help One Child

We're a relatively small outfit. But Consulting Within Reach always treated us like we mattered a great deal. They were extremely attentive and patient. And they delivered expert results that were surprisingly affordable. With their report, we're armed to approach foundations in a whole new way.
