Local nonprofit alliance receives CWR's first ever corporate grant

March 1, 2008

A critical type of organization that strengthens the local nonprofit system is the “convening” association: formal alliances and informal networks of the region’s executive directors.  Thrive Alliance, a coalition of over 100 such figures in San Mateo County, is a great example of this kind of organization.

Our company’s very first corporate donation was recently made to Thrive Alliance to enable it to learn more about how the state's current budget crisis may impact nonprofits operating in San Mateo County.  CWR recognizes that such coalitions especially benefit their members by gathering and sharing important information.

As a young company, we are new to this function of being a grantor ourselves and the grant was admittedly modest, but it signals our commitment to strengthen the overall fabric of nonprofit life in the Bay Area. The executive director of Thrive Alliance, Porcia Chen Silverberg, is enthusiastic about the future of its partnership with CWR.  “Thrive and CWR are kindred spirits,” said Porcia, “the possibilities of us working together are dazzling.”

Consulting Within Reach is eager to establish such ties. We recognize that many other influential parties have long played supportive roles in this region’s nonprofit ecosystem. To find our niche, CWR is engaging in an ongoing process to identify strategic partners that also are promoting the overall vitality of the Bay Area nonprofit environment.  If you're interested in exploring partnership with us, please contact us.
